Experience Parts of New York City Most People Never See

I started WoolworthTours with my sister to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Woolworth Building's opening. When the building opened on April 24, 1913 President Woodrow Wilson flipped a switch in the White House to turn on the lights in the building. It was a really big deal back then, and it was the tallest building in the world for 17 years. Cass Gilbert was the architect. He was our great-grandfather and he also designed the Supreme Court building in Washington DC. The Woolworth Building lobby was closed to the public after 9/11/2001. We started Woolworth Tours in 2013 so people to once again enter the building and see this magnificent space.

Explore The Woolworth Building's magnificent lobby designed by the renowned architect Cass Gilbert. The grand entrance to what was the tallest building in the world for 17 years, and dubbed "the Cathedral of Commerce" is a landmarked interior space unrivaled by any other on the North American continent for its scale, craftsmanship, beauty and sense of humor.
