Christina Specos is a fitness and sports performance professional with 20 years of experience. A Philadelphia native now residing in Miami Beach, she is the CEO and Master Coach at Specos Enterprises, LLC (www.ChristinaSpecos.com) providing customized one-on-one online (app-based) fitness coaching, nutrition, motivation and lifestyle support of her clients’ change to becoming their best selves. She can also be found at SoBe Pilates teaching classes and private lessons for those whom wish to improve their health, fitness, strength and flexibility through the Pilates method, Ki-Hara stretching, circuit training and PowerPlate technology available at the studio.
Prior to her move to Miami Beach, Christina joined the Purdue Athletics staff in 2011 as associate director of strength and conditioning and over 7 seasons, she worked directly with women’s basketball, volleyball, soccer, tennis, men’s and women’s golf and cheerleading while holding with various administrative/operational duties such as internship program coordinator, budgeting and purchasing and interviewing and hiring.
Before Purdue, she was the head strength & conditioning coach at The Lawrenceville School (near Princeton, NJ), while also working as the director of sports performance at Lightning Fast Training Systems. With Lightning Fast, she worked with youth to collegiate athletes and assisted with NFL Combine Training program. She volunteered with the Philadelphia Wings professional lacrosse team for two years and consulted with the San Francisco 49ers, where she created a Pilates for Athletes program.
Specos’ educational background includes a BS in athletic training from West Chester University in 2002 and MS in exercise science and health promotion from California University of Pennsylvania in 2007. She also pursued advanced training in basic and medical massage techniques from Pennsylvania School of Massage Therapy and comprehensive Pilates mat and equipment training from Body Arts and Sciences International and Powerhouse Institute.
Specos holds the following listed certifications below and has co-authored various scholarly articles including change of direction strength characteristics, physical determinants in basketball athletes and the integration of perception and action through cognitive training for agility.
Specos’ training philosophy is founded on a strong belief in ground-based, Olympic-based training methodology that is inclusive of any methods that work for each specific client’s needs…from functional movement to tried and true bodybuilding methods to Pilates and other corrective exercise to programming using technological advances for performance. Whatever the client needs, she will pull out her toolbox of diverse skills and blend the best of the best to customize!
When not working, her hobbies include bodybuilding – (she competes as a Professional women’s physique athlete!), spending time with her Doberman, Jackson, and seeking out the best coffee that Miami can offer! Her favorite quote is “Walk with kings, but never lose the common touch.”
