Tutoring, Test Prep, and Admissions Advisor:
I offer Math, English, and ACT tutoring as well as college admissions counseling. Last May, I graduated with honors from Whitman College. I majored in Philosophy, minored in Physics, and worked in the admissions office for three years as a tour guide and then as a Senior Admissions Intern.
As a Math or English tutor, I offer one-off appointments for test-prep or essay help or regular appointments focused on long-term growth and material mastery.
As an ACT tutor, I recommend at least 4 weekly meetings. Before we meet, you will take a diagnostic test. At our first meeting, we will identify your strengths and areas for improvement and design a study schedule that will focus on your lowest test subjects and remedial lessons. The rest of our meetings will cover each test subject with emphasis on those that can be most quickly improved. So much of earning a top ACT score is about your test-taking process, timing, and reviewing a few narrow areas of forgotten grammar and/or math. With just a few focused meetings, you can raise your score dramatically, improve your chances of getting into your reach school, and possibly earn thousands in scholarship money!
As a college admissions counselor, I can help you find the best schools for you and refine your application. As a recent admissions office employee, I know what schools look for in an application and what makes a good essay into an outstanding one. I recommend meeting at least once early in your college search and more frequently once you begin your applications.

Landscape Architecture:
I have extensive experience with hard- and soft-scape design. I can work with you to envision and design the perfect landscape for your home - from walks, stairways, and fireplaces to plantings and irrigation. Once we work together to design your ideal outdoor space, I will bid the materials and give labor estimates. If you want to hire a landscape company, you can take your design and bid to them at this point. If this is a project you want to do yourself, I can advise you on how to acquire the materials and teach you how to install the landscape. We will work together remotely through videoconferencing and email to evaluate your space, make the design, choose materials, and create a technical blueprint. If you become dissatisfied with the design at any point in the process, I will help redesign it until you are happy. Satisfaction is a guarantee!
