As a teenager, I was interested in getting in to work, but promised myself it would be a job I actually enjoy, and I ended up in retail. 7+ years later, I pursued a bachelor's in the fashion/ retail world because I love the interactions I have with people when I ask them what they are shopping, and inquiring of what they like, and basically shopping with them. The mood they express as they try pieces on, or we discover something exactly they were picturing, or we stumbled upon, is a feeling of accomplishment for knowing they love what they bought and can't wait to wear it and show it off.
Women. I have mainly worked retail with a heavy presence of women shoppers, but I do enjoy the challenge of shopping for men and giving my input as a women. I can relate easy to women's clothing and trends, but I also enjoy giving men my input as a women and how it appears to me.
I am young, and grew up in a very expressive city. Being from Austin, TX it was okay to dress up or down and go to the mall or grocery store or school. I am able to express myself in anyway and learning what works me and doesn't and able to learn how the world reacts. Based off the way I became and where I am from, I have stories and experiences to share of how something way off the fashion forecast would react, as well as share ways I've seen pieces work in a whole new perspective.
The value of styling is very rewarding. I love seeing the smiles and excitement clients have when they have the exact outfit for a concert or a unique piece they would have never thought of a way to wear. The collaboration between me and a client is eye-opening to add to my resume.
